The Home of Devenish provides free, unfurnished, independent accommodation for single Christian women who are widows of Church of England clergy or officers in HM Armed Forces, or who are themselves retired Church of England clergy or retired officers in HM Armed Forces and who are in need.
Our residents have ranged in age from 60 to 105. All have enjoyed the sense of community and the peace and tranquillity of the estates and gardens – each making her new home her own. You can read more about our residents here.
If your application to reside in one of our homes is successful, we do all we can to help the move go smoothly and assist with paperwork and other forms where possible. Our task is to make all our residents feel at home, and we are here to help throughout your time with us.
A resident has to be fit enough to live on her own. Each resident is linked to a local telephone emergency service by push button phone and portable call button courtesy of The Trust. Details of a friend or relative who can assist in times of difficulty must be provided.
There is no resident warden and The Trust does not provide nursing care or night-time assistance. However, day-time help can be supplied on a private paying basis, or through Social Services or NHS if applicable. Long-term night-time assistance is not an option due to practical constraints.
If you would like to find out more, get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
